AFTER POSTING CANDIDATES HAVE 10 DAYS TO TURN IN REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR PREFERENCE, VETERANS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL POINTS PRIOR TO THE FINAL ELIGIBILITY LIST BEING CERTIFIED AND POSTED.


Homer Township Fire Protection District Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen

  • No felony convictions

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

  • 21-35 years of age by August 10, 2007, unless exempt by statute

  • Must provide copy of County or State Birth Certificate (NO hospital copies accepted)

  • **If not born in US, you must provide copy of naturalization papers at orientation along
          with required documents

  • Copy of IDPH Certified Paramedic by Date of Hire

  • Residency requirement within 1 year of hire (per contract)

    CPR Classes

    The Public Education Division offers CPR for Healthcare Provider or Layperson ("Heartsaver").
     
    The cost is $55.00 per student (non refundable).

    Classes are Saturdays every other month 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Classes are held at: 16131 South Bell Road, Homer Glen.

    We do offer recertification classes for Healthcare Provider CPR, but your current card MUST NOT BE EXPIRED. If card has expired student must go through the complete class.

    To Register for a CPR class please contact Diana between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday at (708) 301-0391.

    The Northwest Homer Fire Protection District also offers CPR classes.

    Fire Extinguisher Safety

    Fire Prevention

    We will provide a member of our staff to answer questions about the fire district, talk about fire safety or just the opportunity to meet your organization. I feel it is important for our residents to understand our fire district, and for us to understand the needs and concerns of the people we protect.

    The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for the Inspection of commercial and public buildings and multi-family dwellings to insure adherence to fire safety codes.

    Public Appearance

    Are you hosting a block party and would you like a fire truck to be there? Or do you need a speaker at a school function, boy or girl scout meeting? Are you looking to have your group or birthday party tour the Fire House? The Homer Township Fire Protection District is always willing to come out and educate children and adults about safety, as well as display the fire trucks when not at an emergency. If we can help, please contact our Public Education Coordinator Danielle Fary at (708) 301-0391 to schedule an appearance (Please try to call at least 2 weeks prior).

    Fire and Prevention Safety for Older Adults

    The Public Education Division of the Homer Township Fire Protection District offers a class aimed at the Safety for Older Adults called Fall and Fire Prevention for Older Adults. This class is designed specifically for Seniors to eliminate hazards often found in the homes of older citizens. Call Danielle Fary at (708) 301-0391 for further information.
