The Homer Township Fire Protection District delivers service of fire suppression and emergency medical services to the citizens in our jurisdiction from our three fire stations.  We employ 1 Fire Chief, 1 Deputy Fire Chief, 1 Full-time Captain, 3 Full-time Lieutenants, and 27 Full-time Firefighter/Paramedics.  All three stations are staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.  In addition, we also employ  a Human Resource/Finance Director, Executive Assistant, EMS Billing Coordinator, Fire Prevention Bureau Supervisor, Fire Inspector, and an Administrative Secretary assigned to the fire prevention bureau.  Our response area was once mostly farm fields but is now well under way to becoming a booming suburban area with commercial and industrial developments and sprawling residential growth.  We still maintain two water tankers which can carry a total of 5,500 gallons of water for the areas which do not have hydrants.  These are in addition to our four advanced life support (ALS) ambulances, three ALS fire engines, our 105' ladder truck, and our brush truck.  We are a member of  MABAS division 19, the blue CART team, and the Southwest Hazardous Materials Response Team.

Most of our response area is inside the newly formed village of Homer Glen, however, we are independent of any local municipality. We also cover areas in the Eastern section of Lockport, some Northern sections of New Lenox and other areas in Unincorporated Homer Township.
